When a campaign is running, you need to know where it stands, who it reached, and why some customers were left out.
Campaign Monitor is a dashboard that gives you visibility into your campaigns while they are running and after they have been sent. You can follow status and progress, look up the reasons customers were dropped, and remove messages that are no longer valid.
In this article, you will learn how to find Campaign Monitor, read the campaign list, check drop reasons, and delete scheduled Overlay Messaging and Embedded Messaging messages.
What is Campaign Monitor?
Campaign Monitor is Optimove's dashboard for tracking campaign execution in one place.
- Track the status and progress of running and sent campaigns.
- Look up why customers were dropped from a campaign.
- Delete or recall Overlay Messaging and Embedded Messaging messages that should no longer be delivered.
The outcome: you can see what happened to every campaign and act quickly when a message is out of date or was sent in error.
Where to Find Campaign Monitor
Go to Execute → Campaign Monitor. Campaign Monitor sits alongside the Campaign Builder and is separate from Mission Control.
The Campaign List
When you open Campaign Monitor, you see the campaigns for your account, both running and already sent. Each campaign shows:
- Campaign name/template
- Status: where the campaign is in its lifecycle (see Campaign Statuses below)
- Progress: customers processed against the total, where applicable
- Dropped: customers removed from the campaign before or during sending
- Channel
- Rate: send rate per second
- ETA (remaining): estimated time left to complete
- ETA (total): estimated total run time
- ETA (end time): estimated completion time
- Created at
Look Up Drop Reasons
Customers can be dropped from a campaign during a run, for example, because of their channel preferences, a language mismatch, an error rendering the template, or a delivery failure. The Dropped column shows how many customers each campaign dropped. Campaigns that dropped no one show a dash.
- Navigate to Execute → Campaign Monitor.
- Click the row of the campaign you want to check. The reasons open in a panel underneath.
- Review the list of reasons. Each reason shows the number of customers it affected, largest first.
- Click Refresh to reload the reasons for that campaign.
- Click the row again to hide the panel.
Delete Scheduled Messages
For Overlay Messaging and Embedded Messaging campaigns, you can remove messages that have already been created but are no longer meant for delivery, for example, a message that is out of date or was sent in error. When clicking on the three dots beside a campaign, you have two options:
- Delete for everyone (Embedded Messaging only): removes the message from every customer it was created for, including those who have already received it, so it is never shown to anyone again. Use this when a message must be recalled entirely.
- Delete only undelivered messages: removes only the messages that haven't been shown to the customer yet, for example, scheduled messages still waiting for the customer to next come online. Customers who have already seen the message are unaffected.
Campaign Statuses
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Processing | The campaign is being prepared, and execution is underway. |
| Running | Messages are being sent. |
| Finished | The campaign has completed. |
| Failed | The campaign did not complete. |
