The Target Group feature in Opti-X allows users to leverage target groups created in Optimove for use in Opti-X placements. This enables seamless integration and consistency in customer targeting across different platforms.
Prerequisites
- Users must have both Optimove and Opti-X products.
- The functionality is configured during the onboarding process.
- To use Optimove Target groups in Opti-x you need to set up an always-on triggered campaign.
Getting Target Group ready for Opti-X
Although you can see and choose all Optimove target groups in placements without setting up a campaign, Opti-X won't be able to access any target group that does not have a triggered campaign, due to the evaluation process. We acknowledge that this limitation might be inconvenient, but no alternative solution is currently available.
Note: If you already have a triggered campaign with a target group that you use - you can use it in Opti-x without the steps above.
How To Use
-
Create a Trigger:
- To set up a triggered campaign, you need to configure a trigger that won't actually fire. We recommend to set up your trigger based on a
page_visitevent with a nonexistent URL.For more information on how to create triggers, read here.

-
Create a Triggered Campaign:
- Go to your Campaign Builder setup in Optimove and then to Triggered Campaign.
-
Configure Target group and Trigger settings:
- Choose Target group that you wish to use in Opti-X
- Select the trigger you created earlier.
- Select any option in ‘Measure increase in’ or skip this step as it would not affect your use of Target groups.
-
Continue to Scheduling settings:
- Select your start date. E.g. a date when you plan to go live with your placement or the current date if your placement is already live and you want to add another Target group configuration to it.
- Set Recurrence to always On.
- Repeat to every 1 Day.
- Ending to Never.
-
Continue to Execution Details:
- Select Action (any).
- The campaign won’t execute any message, so we recommend choosing a non-engaging channel (e.g., Other / Call Centre). If you don’t have a non-engaging channel - contact your CSM to set it up.
-
Control Group:
- Remove the control group as reporting for placements in Optimove is currently unsupported.
- You can set up a control group in Opti-X placements.
|| Note: You can use the same trigger for your other always-on-triggered campaigns to access Optimove Target groups in Opti-X placements.
Using Target Groups in Opti-X Placements
-
Selecting Target Groups:
-
In the target group dropdown, Optimove target groups will appear first, followed by Opti-X target groups.
-
-
Select your Target group and configure your placement as usual. By default, option All is selected which means all users.
-
You can configure your placement for different Target groups from Optimove. Priority order displayed in tabs.
Note: Optimove Target groups cannot be tested with the Recommendation Viewer
Limitations
- The eligibility table in Optimove is updated daily, which may cause discrepancies in the target groups available in Opti-X.
Fallback Solution:
-
Set up a fallback target group by adding a second group, such as "All". Ensure it’s right place in priority.
-
Configure the fallback group similarly to your Optimove Target group to ensure coverage.
Use Cases
-
Seamless Channel Experience:
- Target customers with specific campaigns and incorporate elements of these campaigns in your Opti-X placements.
-
Streamlined Use of Data:
- Utilize the data from Optimove in Opti-X to enhance targeting and personalization.
