If you have a promotion system integrated with Optimove, you can level up your promotion strategy with Optimove Promotions (formerly OptiPromo).
Promotions unlocks advanced bonus calculations, using rich Optimove data to deliver dynamic promotions that further boost engagement and optimize reward spend.
To gain access to Promotions, please speak to your Customer Success Manager (CSM).
How to Use
As an API-first solution, Promotions is designed to integrate seamlessly with your promotion system. Before creating your promotions, you will need to implement the Promotion API.
To start, configure a reward type that will later be associated with your promotions.
Under the Plan section in the navigation bar, you will find the Promotions pages. Choose Promotion Settings to review your existing reward types or add a new one.
Creating a Reward Type
Before setting up a promotion, you need to create a reward type. This can be done through the Promotion Settings page.
-
Navigate to Plan → Promotions → Promotion Settings. Your existing reward types are listed under the Reward types tab.
- Click Add Reward Type.
-
Fill in the reward type details:
- Display Name: The name that will appear in the promotion system.
- Identifier: A unique ID for the reward type. Enter your own or click Generate ID.
- Description (Optional): Additional details about the reward type.
- Image (Optional): Upload an image or icon to represent the reward (SVG, PNG, JPG, or GIF, max. 800x400px).
- Category: Choose between Amount (monetary rewards) or Units (activity-based rewards).
- Reward Constraints (Optional): Turn on Minimum Amount and/or Maximum Amount to set the allowed values per customer for this reward type.
- Click Save to finalize the reward type creation.
Creating a Promotion
Under the Plan section in the navigation bar, you will find the Promotions pages. You can review your existing promotions in the lobby and create new ones.
- In the top right-hand corner, select Create New.
-
Fill in the Promotion Details:
- Promotion Name: e.g., VIP25 Cashback
- Description: Add any additional information about the promotion.
-
Promo Code: Choose how promo codes are assigned:
- No Code Required: Applied automatically, with a code generated behind the scenes for tracking purposes.
- Global Promo Code: A single, reusable code that can be shared with all customers. Type a code or click Generate.
- Personalized Codes: Unique, one-time codes tailored for individual customers. See A Guide to Personalized Promo Codes.
Please Note: Once the promotion is created, you cannot edit the promo code.
-
Click Next to add Meta Data (Optional). Click Add Property to add extra details that help categorize, search, or manage your promotion, for example Expiration Date, Eligible Products, or Country.
Please note: These properties are sent via API to your promotion system and must be applied there to impact promotion allocation. Setting up property details provides visibility between marketing teams (managing promotions in Optimove) and developers (implementing your promotion systems).
-
Click Next and decide on the type of reward you want to deliver. This section defines which reward your customers will receive. When activating a promotion, your promotion system will call Optimove’s API to determine the reward a customer will receive.
Types of Rewards
Single Reward: The reward will be the same for all customers.
Tiered Reward: The reward will vary by customer segment. Each tier is defined by one or more customer or session attributes (for example, Loyalty Level equals Gold). Click Add attribute to add conditions to a tier and Add Tier to create more tiers.
- If a customer qualifies for more than one tier, the topmost tier is applied.
- Turn on Else to give customers who do not fit any tier a default reward.
- Use Tier Metadata (Optional) to add extra details to a tier.
External Reward: Rewards will be set outside of Optimove.
Calculating Rewards
Turn on Calculate the reward value? to create dynamic rewards that adapt to player behavior like deposits, bets, and losses.
Enter a percentage in the Value is field and select the customer attribute it applies to. A summary below the fields shows how the reward will be calculated.
Example: 10% of Deposit Amount, Yesterday. If a customer deposited $100 yesterday, they will get a $10 reward. If another customer deposited $200, they will get a $20 reward from the same campaign.
Rounding Options
After configuring a calculated reward, you can choose a rounding type from the Rounding dropdown menu:
- Round: Rounds to the nearest value
- Round Up: Always rounds up to the nearest value
- Round Down: Always rounds down to the nearest value
- MROUND: Rounds to the nearest multiple of a specified factor
- No Rounding: Keeps the exact calculated value
For all rounding options, you can specify Decimal places:
- Setting it to 2 will transform 5.789 into 5.78
- Setting it to 0 will transform 5.789 into 5
For MROUND, you must also define a Factor:
- Example: MROUND (34.75, 0.1) = 34.8
- Example: MROUND (11, 3) = 12
-
Click Next to set limits for the promotion.
Budget & Constraints
Apply an audience cap, set a budget by reward type, or use both. Whichever limit is reached first will automatically end the promotion.
Audience Cap & Alerts
Limits the maximum number of participants who can redeem rewards in this promotion. Once reached, the promotion will end. Click Add Cap, choose a Timeframe (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Lifetime), and enter the cap. For more options, see Audience Cap Optimization.
Budget Reward & Alerts
Sets the maximum budget for each reward type, keeping campaigns within budget and avoiding overspending. The promotion will end when this budget is fully used. Click Add Budget, choose a Timeframe, and enter the budget. You can add multiple caps and budgets as needed. If multiple reward types are configured in the rewards section, each one has its own budget section.
Click Show Advanced Settings under a cap or budget to configure alerts.
Override Existing Constraints
Turn on Override existing constraints to change the minimum and maximum amounts set for the reward type under Promotion Settings. The new values apply to this promotion only. Other promotions will not be affected.
-
Click Next to review the promotion summary and ensure all details are correct. To complete the creation, choose either:
- Save: The promotion is saved as Draft.
- Save and Activate: The promotion status becomes Active, making it available inside the Campaign Builder.
Please note: Once the promotion is created, you can select Save and Deactivate. This changes the promotion's status to Deactivated, allowing you to edit most details except for the promo code. You can then reactivate it when ready.
-
To connect a promotion to a campaign, open the Campaign Builder, expand Execution Details, and click Add Promotion. Then select the relevant promotion.
Use Cases
Deliver Personalized Cashback Offers for Big Spenders
Reward players with cashback based on their deposit or bet amounts, encouraging higher deposits or bets to unlock bigger rewards. For example:
- Deposit $50–$100: Get 10% cashback.
- Deposit $101–$200: Get 20% cashback.
- Deposit over $200: Get 30% cashback.
Enhance Loyalty Programs with Tiered Rewards
Tailor promotions for customers based on their loyalty status. Using Promotions, you can set up tiered rewards that are personalized for gold, silver, and bronze loyalty members. This helps to reward your most valuable customers with higher promotions to keep them loyal to your brand. Additionally, by offering tiered promotions, you can entice customers in lower loyalty tiers to spend more and earn higher rewards when they become Silver or Gold customers. For example:
- Gold Tier Customers: 25% of Last Order Amount
- Silver Tier Customers: 20% of Last Order Amount
- Bronze Tier Customers: 15% of Last Order Amount
Maximize Profit using Discount Affinity to Personalize Promotions
Tailor your promotional offers based on how frequently customers engage with discounts and special offers. Using Promotions, segment your customers by their reward affinity: those who are highly responsive to offers get more significant rewards like percentage discounts or free shipping, while others receive lighter incentives designed to re-engage them. This strategy not only maximizes customer satisfaction but also ensures that promotional spending is optimized for profitability.
Tournament Entry Based on Betting Activity
Increase player engagement through competitive experiences using Promotions to offer tournament entries based on betting activity.
Grant players who consistently place bets or reach certain milestones during gameplay automatic entry into exclusive tournaments. The more engaged the player, the more prestigious the tournament they can access. This not only motivates players to stay active but also enhances the competitive edge, driving loyalty through gamified engagement.
