March: Optimove Acquires a Mobile Marketing Platform & What this Means

Last week was a festive one as we announced our acquisition of the mobile marketing platform Kumulos. This means that you will now have access to mobile push, in-app messaging, mobile inboxes, and web push natively within Optimove. And if that isn’t enough, you’ll also be able to trigger campaigns based on geofences and beacons and leverage an award-winning Deferred Deep Linking capability.
 
Back in September when we raised our $75M funding round, we did so to expand our native channel offering to complement our real-time CDP and AI orchestration engine. The first step was always going to be mobile marketing, as almost a third of you use at least one mobile channel as part of your marketing strategy.
 
In Kumulos we found a future-proof platform built by mobile developers with years of experience. When we met, we quickly understood they were what you, our customers, needed. A developer-friendly tool, with SDKs for all mobile platforms and languages, and powerful mobile marketing personalization and customization capabilities!
 
But the acquisition is only the beginning. We are doubling down on mobile marketing by growing the now-renamed “Optimove mobile development team” to be able to answer all your mobile marketing needs.

What you can do today

Where to start?

Maybe with developer-friendly SDKs for all leading platforms and languages including iOS, Android, Huawei, React Native, Flutter, Cordova/Ionic, Unity, and Xamarin.

What we are working on now

An important part of updating our mobile marketing offering is updating our mobile SDKs. So yes, we now have an SDK for all those fancy platforms and languages as we said above, but we still need to do some minor techy tweaks.

First off, we need to let the new SDKs seamlessly stream mobile events into Optimove.
 
Why do you ask?
 
Well, that is what will allow us to trigger real-time campaigns in response to users’ in-app behavior.
 
Then, we’ll use those events to update real-time attributes and segmentation, ensuring your customer data is always in line with the latest changes to your customer’s engagement with your brand.
 
And don’t worry, by the time the summer ends, this will already be a reality.
 

Our vision for the future

We started this magazine issue by saying “you will now have access to mobile push, in-app messaging, mobile inboxes, and web pushes natively within Optimove,” and we mean it.

While at first, you may need to log in to Kumulos to create templates and then to Optimove to set up the campaigns and Streams using those templates, in the future that will no longer be the case. Optimove will become a true one-stop shop, including all advanced capabilities from within Optimove’s native interface.
 
And further in the future?
 
Well, we can say this. We are not done yet. So stay tuned.
