While the automated email system is often used to notify prize winners, you can also use its powerful triggers to send different emails to participants based on their performance (e.g., their score), even if you aren't giving away a tangible prize. This is done by creating a "logic-only" prize that acts as the trigger.
This advanced guide assumes you are familiar with creating prizes and emails. For the basics, please see our guides on How to Add and Configure Prizes and How to Set Up Automated Emails.
Step-by-Step Guide: Emailing High-Scorers
Let's walk through a common example: sending a special congratulatory email to any participant who scores 500 points or more in a game.
Create a "Logic" Prize
First, we need to create a prize that a user "wins" when they meet our score criteria.
- Navigate to the Prizes tab of your campaign and click "+ Add prize".
- Give the prize a descriptive internal name, like "High Score Email Trigger".
- Set the 'Amount' to a very high number to ensure it never runs out.
- Set the Prize Type to 'Instant Win'.
- For the rule, select "Prize is won by finishing the game with at least 500 points".
- Save the prize. Since this isn't a real prize, you can leave the description, image, and prize codes blank.
Create the Triggered Email
Now, create the email that will be sent when the "logic prize" is won.
-
- Navigate to the E-mails tab of your campaign and create a new email.
- For the Trigger Event, select "On Prize Win".
- From the prize dropdown menu that appears, select the "High Score Email Trigger" prize you just created.
Design and Activate Your Email
Write the content for your email (e.g., "Congratulations on achieving an amazing score!"). Make sure the email is set to "Active" to enable sending.
That's it! Now, any participant who scores 500 points or more will automatically meet the conditions for the "logic prize" and receive your congratulatory email, even though no tangible prize was awarded.
