Logging in to many computer systems is accomplished by entering a single set of credentials, namely user name, and password. Two-factor authentication takes this an important step further by restricting access until two different forms of identification are provided to the system.

 

Implementing two-factor authentication typically involves requiring every user to supply a combination of “what you know” and “what you have” before they are able to access a system. “What you know” is usually a standard username and password pair. “What you have” can be implemented in a number of ways, such as a mobile device or email account where a single-use passcode is sent for each login.

 

While two-factor authentication adds a bit of inconvenience to authorized users, it addresses a major weakness of relying on a user name/password combination alone: it makes it far more difficult for a hacker to discover credentials and then gain access to an online system.

 

To activate two-factor authentication for your Optimove site, or to get additional information about using it, contact your CSM.

 

Once the code is scanned, your Google Authenticator account will be linked to your Optimove account, and you will see the Optimove account listed among the managed accounts in the app.

This completes the initial setup of two-factor authentication for Optimove.
