If you are targeting customers in multiple countries around the world, it’s important to localize your content to provide an optimal customer experience.
With Optimove, you can natively set up alternative languages for each of your templates and integrate with a Translation Management System (TMS) to automatically pull the translated content into your templates.
You currently have 1 option for translation:

Creating Your Master Template in Optimove
Upload Your ETL Files
First of all, you must ensure that the ETL files you are sending to Optimove include a Language Attribute for each customer. This is what we will use to determine which version of a template each customer should receive. Find out more about the ETL process here. Ensure that the values for the Language Attribute you create are aligned across both Optimove and your TMS to ensure the right languages are sent to the right customers.
Activate Multi-Language Support
In order to create multi-language templates and campaigns, you will need to ensure this has been activated on your instance. Please reach out to your CSM if you need this to be activated, or if you aren’t sure.
Create or Duplicate a Template
With everything set up, you can now create your OptiMobile Push template as usual. Learn more about building mobile push notification templates here.
Set Source Language
When you’re happy with your template, you need to set a Source Language. For example, if the template has been created in English, this will be your Source Language.
Choose Other Languages
Now, you need to define the languages that you want your template to be translated into. The languages you see here will have been configured in your TMS, and there is no limit to the number of languages you can set up.
Sync to Your TMS
When you have defined your languages, and the template is complete, you can now sync to your TMS.
Your template will show when the content was last synced, and will show "In Progress" once the translation process begins.
If you change the content after pressing sync, the status will change to “Content Changed” and you will need to sync again.
Translating the Master Template with TMS
Create Translations in Your TMS
To complete the translation process, navigate over to your TMS and follow their process for creating translations. Find details on our available TMS integrations below.
Approve Translations
When the translations have been completed by your TMS, review and approve on the TMS platform, so that the translations can be sent to Optimove.
Sync to Optimove and Review
These translations can be synced to Optimove. The status of the Language in the OptiMobile Push template will have changed to “Translated”.
The template can be reviewed and previewed per language by using the dropdown on the top left of the screen and checking the preview screen on the right-hand side.
Setting Up Your Multi-Language Campaign
Once you are happy with the content of your multi-language template, you can then follow the usual process for setting up an OptiMobile Push campaign. Learn more about the Campaign Builder here.
You can also use multi-language campaigns as part of your Streams. Find out more about Streams here.
There are no additional steps required at this stage, as we will automatically send the relevant template to customers who have the respective language attributes.
Important Notes:
- If a customer has a language attribute that is not listed in the defined template translations, they will receive the default template. For example, if your initial template has a Source Language of English, with translations in French and Spanish. If the customer’s language attribute is German, they will receive the default Master Template, in English.
- Personalization tags will not be translated. They will be populated with the data that is currently provided via the ETL process, or via real-time attributes.

- Language Attribute per Customer
