This article will walk you through building a campaign in the new campaign builder.

Campaigns consist of some key building blocks.

A Target Group. Target Groups must be built in advance.
A Template. Templates can be created from within the Campaign Builder.
Actions. Actions can be created from within the Campaign Builder.
A Trigger (for real-time campaigns). The trigger must be built in advance.

How to Access the Campaign Builder

You can access the Campaign Builder to create scheduled or triggered campaigns from multiple locations within your Optimove instance:

From the 'Execute' tab in the navigation bar

2. From the Customer Explorer or Target Groups page by clicking “Run Campaign” from within a specific target group. This will automatically populate the Target Group field in the Campaign Builder.

3. From Mission Control by clicking the “+ Campaign” icon at the top right corner

4. From the Realtime Triggers page by clicking “Create Campaign” from within a specific trigger. This will automatically populate the Trigger field in the Campaign Builder.

5. From the Templates page by clicking “Run Campaign” from within a specific template. This will automatically populate the Template field in the Campaign Builder.

How To Create a Campaign in Optimove

The following video includes an overview of how to set up a campaign in Optimove. For a step-by-step guide scroll below the video.

Steps:

1. Go to the Campaign Builder

2. Select the target group you want to send the campaign to. For example, “Global Newsletter Only.”

3. Define whether customers included in this campaign and others with higher prioritization should be included or excluded from this campaign. Note that it is recommended to exclude customers from concurring campaigns and that by default, that is the selected option. For more on exclusions click here.

4. Set the campaign start date.

Once you've selected your Target Group and Start Date, you can save your campaign as a draft and revisit it in Mission Control. Learn more about drafting campaigns here.

5. Define the campaign’s duration. Campaign duration refers to the number of days that your campaign is considered to be in effect. Note that your Optimove instance’s default duration, in this case, “3 days,” is always prepopulated. You can manually override it by typing in a different duration. 6. Select the KPI you would like to measure and optimize this campaign against. For example, Net Revenue.

7. To define a recurring campaign, toggle the recurrence button to “ON” and define the recurrence pattern for this specific campaign. For example, set the campaign to repeat every Tuesday and never end its recurrence until manually stopped.

8. Click on the Action dropdown to select a marketing Action or create a new Action as shown below. To learn more about marketing Actions, click here.

9. Choose a Channel and the relevant template and update the execution time accordingly. For example, select Optimail as your channel to send out the “English Newsletter” email at 09:00 AM.

If you're executing an Optimail campaign, you can create the template directly from the Campaign Builder.

All you have to do is select 'Create new Optimail template' in the dropdown

Once you click here, you will be redirected to the Template Editor in a new tab.

Once you have built your template, save it.

Then go back to the Campaign Builder tab, and hit the refresh button next to the template dropdown.

And now your new template will appear!

10. Define your control group size. Control groups are strongly recommended as they allow you to measure the incremental impact a campaign has on its KPI.

By default, Optimove selects the Control Group Optimization option which automatically determines and adjusts the optimal control group size for each campaign occurrence. You may also choose to manually set the control group percentage by toggling the button to “Off” and entering specific values.
