In Optimove, target groups are segments of customers that are created based on your defined criteria. These groups of customers are then targeted according to priority and used to plan marketing campaigns. You can build a target group via the Target Groups page or the Customer Explorer.
Creating a Target Group via the Target Groups Page
To create a target group, go to Target Groups under the Plan section.
- Click on the Customer Target Groups folder to expand it.
- Choose whether to create a new target group or a new folder to create new target groups in it.
- Enter a name for the target group.
- Click on "Add selection" to open the Selection Criteria side panel.
The Selection Criteria panel includes various criteria which can be used to segment your customers and add different granularity levels to your target group. Read about each selection criterion in this link. - In this example, let's create a target group of new customers that ordered their first product in the last 2 days and were also targeted with a specific campaign in the last 10 days. Let's add:
- Lifecycle- New
- Customer Attribute- Days since first order <= 2
- Campaign History- Targeted while in a target group - Select all customers who were targeted with any campaign while a member of the "Potential New Category Purchasers" target group more than 0 times, during the previous 10 days.
6. Click "Save"
That's it, your new target group is set up. Click Run Campaign to schedule a campaign for this target group, or continue to the Customer Explorer to explore the customers in this group.
Creating a Target Group via the Customer Explorer
To create a target group, go to the Customer Explorer under the Explore section.
1. Click on "New Target Group".
2. Enter a name for the target group.
3. Click on "Add selection" to open the Selection Criteria side panel. The Selection Criteria panel includes various criteria which can be used to segment your customers and add different granularity levels to your target group. Read about each selection criterion in this link.
4. In this example, let's create a target group of new customers that ordered their first product in the last 2 days and were also targeted with a specific campaign in the last 10 days. Let's add:
- Lifecycle- New

5. Click "Save"
