The 'Account Owner' is the primary administrative contact for your entire Gamify (formerly Adact) account. This guide explains the owner's role and how to safely transfer ownership to another team member.
Understanding the Account Owner Role
Every account must have one, and only one, Account Owner. This user is distinct from other roles because they are:
- The primary contact for important account communications, such as billing issues, subscription updates, and critical system notifications.
- The only user who can transfer ownership to another team member.
How to Transfer Account Ownership
This process can only be initiated by the current Account Owner.
- Ensure the new owner is on the team. Before you begin, the person you want to transfer ownership to must already be a team member in your account. If they are not, invite them first.
- Edit the new owner's permissions. Navigate to your team management settings. Find the team member you wish to make the new owner and click Edit permissions next to their name.
- Assign the 'Account Owner' role. In the user editing window, change their User Role from 'Team Member' or 'Account Admin' to 'Account Owner'.
- Save your changes. Click the button to confirm the new role assignment. The ownership transfer happens immediately. The previous owner is automatically demoted to an 'Account Admin' role.
- (Optional) Remove the previous owner. If the former Account Owner should no longer have access to the account, you (or another admin) can now click Delete user next to their name to remove them. This will free up their seat.
