The Remove Personal Data page provides a powerful tool for data privacy and compliance, allowing you to permanently delete historical personal data for specific customers from Optimove. This feature is essential for fulfilling "right to be forgotten" requests as required by regulations like GDPR.
⚠️ WARNING
The action of removing personal data is permanent and irreversible. Once a customer's data is removed, it cannot be recovered. Please exercise extreme caution and double-check your list of customer IDs before proceeding.
Prerequisites
- You must have an Admin role to access this page.
- You must have a CSV file prepared. The file must contain a single column of Customer IDs only, with no header row.

- Click the Settings icon in the main navigation menu.
- Under the General Settings category, select Remove Personal Data.
A Guide to Removing Personal Data
The process involves preparing a simple CSV file and uploading it through the interface.
Step-by-Step Guide
- Prepare Your CSV File:
- Create a new file with a
.csvextension (e.g.,customers_to_remove.csv). - In a single column, list the unique Customer ID for each customer whose data you wish to remove.
- Ensure the file size is under 30MB (approximately 310,000 records).
- Crucially, do not include a header row. The first row should be a Customer ID, not the text "customerID".

- Upload the CSV File:
- On the "Remove customer personal data" page, click the Browse button.
- Select the CSV file you prepared from your computer.
- Initiate the Removal:
- Once a valid file is loaded, the Remove Personal Data button in the top-right corner will become active.
- Click the Remove Personal Data button.
- Confirm the Action:
- A confirmation pop-up will appear, asking you to confirm the permanent deletion.
- Carefully review the information and, if you are certain, confirm the action.
The system will then process the file and remove the data for the specified customers.
