Missions reward players for completing specific objectives — but not every behavior you want to reward fits a start-and-finish shape.
Calculated Rewards grant loyalty rewards automatically based on real-time player events, using either a fixed value or a formula tied to the event's own data. You can reward deposits, wins, or any other qualifying behavior with Virtual Currency or Experience Points (XP) — instantly, repeatedly, and at scale. Unlike a mission, a Calculated Reward isn't a one-time objective: it runs continuously in the background and fires every time a matching event comes in.
This guide will walk you through creating a Calculated Reward rule, from naming the rule to activating it.
How to Create a Calculated Reward
Name your Rule
- Navigate to Optimove Loyalty → Calculated Rewards.
- Click + Add Calculated Reward.
- Enter a name that describes the reward for your team.
Define the Reward Formula
Define when the reward is triggered and how it is calculated.
- Select the event that should evaluate the rule each time it fires — for example,
deposit_made. - Choose what the rule grants: Virtual Currency or Experience Points (XP).
- Select Formula to tie the amount to an attribute on the event itself — for example,
deposit.amount × 100XP.
Set Targeting (Optional)
Targeting lets the same event pay out differently — or not at all — depending on who triggers it.
- Limit the rule to a specific Optimove Target Group, a player level, or both.
- Leave targeting empty to apply the rule to every player.
Save & Activate
Click Save & Activate to make the rule live.
From this point on, every matching event is evaluated in real-time.
How Calculated Rewards Work
A Calculated Reward is a standing rule rather than a goal. Each time the trigger event arrives for a player, the rule is evaluated and — if the player is in scope — the reward is granted immediately.
- Always on: the rule fires every time a matching event comes in, not once.
- Event-driven amounts: with a formula, the payout scales with the event's own data, so a larger deposit earns proportionally more.
- Scoped by targeting: Target Group and level conditions decide who the rule applies to.
