Most changes to a player's Loyalty balances happen on their own — a player completes a mission, buys from the store, or climbs a leaderboard, and Optimove Loyalty updates their account. Occasionally you need to step outside that flow and change one player's account directly.
Manual Profile Modification is the page in Optimove Loyalty where you do that. It applies a single, one-off change to one player's account: grant or deduct virtual currency or experience points, grant or revoke a badge, grant an external reward, or remove the player from a tournament. It exists for corrections and support cases — compensating a player after a technical issue, or undoing a registration a player made by mistake.
This guide will walk you through how to apply a manual modification to a player's account, from opening the page for a specific player to confirming the change.
How to Apply a Manual Profile Modification
Open the Manual Profile Modification page
The page is reached from Settings and is scoped to a single player, so you need the player's ID before you start.
Navigate to Settings and select Manual profile modification under Cross-Channel Settings.
Choose the action you want to apply
Eight actions are available. Pick the one that matches what you are trying to correct.
- In the Player ID field, enter the ID of the player whose account you want to change.
- Select the relevant action you wish to perform
- Review the description below to confirm the action does what you expect.
| Action | What it does | What you need to provide |
|---|---|---|
| Grant virtual currency | Adds an amount to one of the player's currency balances. | The currency and the amount. |
| Deduct virtual currency | Removes an amount from one of the player's currency balances. | The currency and the amount. |
| Grant experience points | Adds an amount to the player's experience balance. | The amount. |
| Deduct experience points | Removes an amount from the player's experience balance. | The amount. |

| Remove from tournament | Removes the player's entry from a tournament they are currently enrolled in. | The tournament. |
Currencies and badges must already exist in your instance before you can grant or deduct them. For more on creating them, see Managing Assets: Badges & Currencies. For external rewards, see How to Set Up an External Reward.
Enter the details for the action
Each action asks only for what it needs — an amount, a badge, a reward, or a tournament.
- Complete the fields shown for the action you selected.
- Optionally, add a reason in the field. The reason is limited to 255 characters.
Confirm the change
Nothing is applied until you confirm. This is the last point at which you can back out.
- Review the action, the player, and the values you entered.
- Click Apply.
The change takes effect immediately on the player's account.
Rules That Apply to Every Modification
Three constraints are enforced by Optimove Loyalty, whatever action you choose. If a modification is blocked, it is almost always one of these:
- A deduction cannot take a balance below zero. If a player holds 50 of a currency, you can deduct up to 50 — not 60. The same applies to experience points.
- Badges are all-or-nothing. A badge cannot be granted if the player already holds it, and it cannot be revoked if the player does not hold it.
- Only active tournaments can be left. A player can only be removed from a tournament that is still active, and the entry fee is not refunded. If the player paid to enter, removing them does not return that cost.
