The partnership between Hippo Tech and Optimove gives you the tools to enhance customer engagement and run more targeted campaigns. This article outlines the key integration points and walks you through the setup process for each one.

Features Supported by the Hippo Tech Integration

The integration supports six capabilities:

  • Batch Data Integration: Transfers customer and transactional data to Optimove through a direct database-to-database connection.
  • Streaming Data Integration: Streams events in real time using server-side events and the Optimove Web SDK.
  • Promotion System Integration: Synchronizes promotions for scheduled and real-time campaigns.
  • Web Channel Integration (formerly OptiWeb): Engages customers with web push notifications and web pop-ups.
  • Transactional API: Sends automated transactional emails through Email (formerly OptiMail).
  • Consent Data Management (Email): Keeps email consent status in sync through the batch data feed.

Batch Data Integration

Transfer customer and transactional data to Optimove to fuel data-driven campaigns and segmentation.

Data Delivery Method:

Direct database-to-database connection.

Integration Steps

  1. Database Connection Setup: Optimove and Hippo Tech establish a direct database-to-database connection for secure data transfer. Contact your project manager to coordinate this setup.
  2. Data Delivery & QA: Hippo Tech makes the relevant data available through the database connection. Optimove retrieves the data and begins the quality assurance phase.
  3. ETL Setup: Hippo Tech automates the batch data process. Once the data and ETL processes are finalized, the data is ingested into Optimove for campaign targeting and segmentation.

Streaming Data Integration

Optimove's real-time behavioral tracking responds to customer actions as they happen. Hippo Tech supports real-time event streaming through server-side events and the Optimove Web SDK.

Key Capabilities:

  • Real-Time Campaigns: Create personalized campaigns based on live events such as logins or transactions.
  • Real-Time Attribute Updates: Update customer attributes instantly to reflect their latest activity or status.
  • Web and App Activity Tracking: Improve segmentation and targeting using streaming events.

Integration Steps

  1. Complete the Prerequisite Form: Complete the Real-time Integration Form. Optimove supplies the connection details you need: the server-side endpoint, your Tenant ID, and your Tenant Token.
  2. Production Implementation: Hippo Tech configures the necessary production settings using the connection details from step 1.
  3. Test & Deploy: Run test campaigns to validate the integration. Once validated, you can begin targeting live users according to your marketing needs.

Promotion System Integration

Integrating your external promotion or bonus system with Optimove lets campaigns automatically trigger promotional grants, either scheduled or in real-time.

Key Capabilities:

  • Scheduled Campaign Support: Automatically deliver promos to your Target Groups at scheduled times.
  • Real-Time Campaign Support: Push promotions instantly when customers meet defined triggers, using Optimove's streaming data engine.
  • Promotion Synchronization: Add, update, delete and fetch valid promo codes through the API, making them available in the Campaign Builder.

Integration Steps

  1. API Key Setup: Request the integration setup from your Hippo Tech point of contact and provide them with an API key.
  2. Support & Testing: Consult your Optimove Customer Solutions Engineer for use-case support if needed. Once Hippo Tech confirms the integration is complete, you can begin testing.

Web Channel Integration (formerly OptiWeb)

Web is Optimove's toolkit for personalized browser-based messages. With Hippo Tech, web push notifications and web pop-ups are supported.

Key Capabilities:

  • Web Push & Pop-Up: Permission-friendly overlays that boost opt-in, with personalized messaging driven by on-site behavior.
  • Rich media and brand-consistent templates.

Integration Steps

  1. Submit the Request Form: Submit a request form to trigger onboarding on Optimove's side.
  2. Share Your Credentials: After onboarding, provide your Tenant Token and Tenant ID to your partner contact.
  3. Test & Deploy: Run test campaigns, then deploy to production.

Transactional API

Email (formerly OptiMail) is Optimove's native Email Service Provider (ESP), built to streamline every stage of your email marketing — from creation and delivery through to performance analysis. The Transactional API lets Hippo Tech trigger automated operational emails through it.

Integration Steps

  1. Email Request: Submit the Email request form.
  2. Optimove Setup: Optimove allocates a new IP address within SendGrid and creates the necessary DNS records.
  3. Client Implementation: Implement the provided DNS records in your domain hosting provider.
  4. Email Configuration: Email is added to your Optimove UI and the DNS records are verified.
  5. Transactional API Setup: Request the integration setup from your Hippo Tech point of contact and provide them with an API key.

Consent Data Management (Email)

Hippo Tech updates the email consent field through the batch data feed, including a timestamp for each status change.

Batch Data

Hippo Tech includes the most current subscription status for every user in the batch data update. Optimove uses this to update the Email Unsubscribe attribute with the latest information once a day.

The batch data file includes:

  • Email address
  • Timestamp — dd/mm/yy hh:mm (date and time)
  • Subscription status — Opt-in = true/false
