Smart Campaigns enables you to deliver real-time personalized marketing campaigns across email, SMS, and web & mobile push. With a range of automated campaigns feasible in Opti-X, you can dramatically improve your marketing efficiency and keep customers actively engaged.
Opti-X sends Smart Campaigns CRM in 3 ways:
- Static: Operator defines when a message is sent.
- Dynamic: Based on player and game catalogue events.
- Batch: Daily load of personalised game content into CRM system.
Smart Campaigns is based on Use Cases created by Opti-X team. These Use Cases are generic but adjusted to operators' data schema and then available in Event Generators list in Opti-X admin. See specific vertical page guide to view available use cases.
The main entity in Smart Campaigns is Event Generator. An Event Generator can be conceptualized as a campaign built on a Use Case. This Use Case outlines the settings that will initiate an event. An event Generator may also include your message template and schedule.

Create/Edit Event Generator
Within the Event Generator manager, click Add New Event Generator to be taken to the configuration interface.
Info
Name - name for your Event Generator. It will be shown in Event Generators list.
Description - explanatory description for your Event Generator. It will be shown in Event Generators list.
Channel and Provider - define what channel you want to send your message to and select your provider. E.g. if you want to send Push notifications and your provider is Airship - select these accordingly.
Control % - % of a control group users that are eligible for your camping but won’t receive it. These users would be flagged as a control group. If using external messaging where Opti-X don’t control the sending - leave it a 0.
We suggest always using at least 10% control to compare how well your smart campaigns are working. You can also leave the control group % to 0 and set up a control group with your channel provider.
Use Case
Then select your Use Case. Each Use Case exposes its own Parameters and Message settings. If you’re looking for ready-made patterns, jump to these out-of-the-box (OOTB) examples by vertical:
Throttling
This section is about limiting the number of messages that we can send per event generator. One event generator can generate multiple messages relevant for the user per day.
Global limit is 3 messages per day across all event generators, but the operators can change that up or down by a request.
Enable throttling - checkbox to enable other throttling settings.
Min hours between messages - you can input a number from the range of 1 to 23. The exception to this is if the operator wants to limit messages for a user to once per week, for example, then enable throttling and set ‘Min hours between messages’ to 168 (24 hours x 7 days).
Max messages per day - if you select 1, then there is no need to fill 'Min hours between messages 'as it’s going to be only one message per day per a specific Event Generator.
Parameters
This section is dynamically created based on a Use Case. Parameters might be related to targeting your audience, conditions for triggering the Event Generator itself and content that would be in the message.
Example
These are the parameters for the In-play event Use Case.
Messages
Internal
Here you can create a message in our system, e.g. to use for push notifications.
You can create a title for your message, its text, and then the URL.
Message Key: This is the name assigned to your message for easy identification of your message template. If you are working with different product categories within a single Event Generator and wish to create a distinct message for each category, naming message keys can be beneficial.
For instance, if an Event Generator initiates a campaign for various sports types (tennis, football, volleyball, etc.), indicating that an event has started. Another scenario could be when a product is back in stock, and you have distinct messages for categories like beauty products, home essentials, household tools, etc.
Language: If you are operating in multiple countries, you can create variations of your message in different languages for each country.
For example, if you are working in the UK and Spain, you will need to create a message in English and select "English" in the Language field for the intended English-speaking audience. Subsequently, you will need to create another message and select "Spanish" in the Language field for the intended Spanish-speaking audience.
Title and Message Text: you can use regular text, emojis and placeholder tags - your placeholders are defined in a Use Case. You can put them in a template by start typing '{'.
#
External
Select this option if you use an external provider (like Optimove or Adobe) to build your message template. In this case, fill out the External Template ID field with the ID from the provider’s system that you use.
Available fields: placeholder tags, dynamic content that is available for your message template.
Schedule
You can set a timeframe for an Event Generator by specifying dates in the 'From' and 'To' fields. If you want the events to generate continuously, you can leave the 'To' field empty.
There is also an option to configure multiple time schedules. For example, if you want to activate your Event Generator on specific days of the week at different times.
Event Generator actions
Once you’ve set up your Event Generator you can perform several actions with it.
Test Send: once you save an Event Generator you can launch an immediate test send. To make sure your message is displayed correctly you need to upload Validation users in Datasets.
Disabled: disable Event Generator. It’s a default state once you create an Event Generator. Grey indication in the Event Generators list reflects this state.
Test Mode: means Event Generator is being tested - according to the schedule and validation users. Orange indication in the Event Generators list reflects this state.
Enabled: make Event Generator live. Green indication in the Event Generators list reflects this state.
