Smart Campaigns work seamlessly with Optimove campaign execution if you're using both Smart Campaigns in Opti-X and Real-Time Triggers in Optimove. This guide will walk you through the steps to set up a campaign based on a universal event in Opti-X.
Smart Campaigns are ideal for inventory-driven scenarios, such as:
- Pricedrop alerts
- Back-in-stock notifications
To set it up you need to follow few steps in Opti-X and Optimove:
- Set up the Event Generator in the Smart Campaigns Section
- Set up a matching Event in Optimove Settings
- Set up Realtime Trigger
- Build a Template for the Triggered Campaign
- Build a Triggered Campaign
Set up Event Generator in the Smart Campaigns section
- Open Event Generator Manager
- Click "Add New Event Generator" to access the configuration interface.
- Fill in Event Info
-
Name: Enter a name for your Event Generator. It will be displayed in the Event Generators list and used as
event_namein Optimove. Keep it simple and avoid spaces. - Description: Provide a descriptive explanation for your Event Generator. This will also be displayed in the Event Generators list.
- Channel and Provider: Select the channel you want to message and choose Optimove as the provider.
- Control Group: You can skip this and manage it while building the triggered campaign in Optimove.
- Select Use Case: Choose the appropriate use case for your Event Generator.
- Throttling Settings: Ignore these settings, as they will be managed by the Optimove triggered campaign.
- Define Parameters: Fill in the parameters required for your event. Each use case will have specific settings in Parameters and Message settings.
-
Messages:
- Select "External" to indicate that the message and template will be built and executed outside of the Opti-X platform (e.g., Optimove native channels).
- In the External Template ID field, enter the name of the event, which should match the name used in Optimove.
- Ensure the available fields for personalization tags are defined for use in the triggered campaign.
-
Set the Schedule:
- Set the event to "always on" to use it as a real-time trigger by choosing the launch date and not choosing an end date. Set launch date as your intended started of the campaign date or an earlier date to run test sends.
- Select all days of the week and set the time.
- Save Event generator.
For the next steps go to the Optimove platform.
Set up a matching Event in Optimove Settings

- Use the same name as in the Event Generator for the External ID.
-
Add Event Parameters:
- Add the parameters as defined in the available fields section of the Event Generator.
- Ensure all parameters are present before saving the event.
- Ensure all parameters of the event are present and save the event.

Build a Triggered Campaign
- Create a triggered campaign as you normally would.
- Select a wide target group and choose the trigger you created earlier, or create a new trigger directly from Campaign Builder.
