Common Use Cases
Having teaser auto-play directly in your email increases user interest in the content, encouraging them to click through to watch the full video. A great teaser for new products, events, concerts, shows, how-to videos, etc.
Custom Development
The following scenarios can be supported by our team through Custom Development:
Click-to-Play Landing page
When a longer format is required, DynamicMail team can create a custom landing page for recipients who click on the short video in the email. There, the full-length video will auto-play in its entirety with audio, which allows users not on iOS 10 and above, to have the full video. Where auto-play is not supported, users will simply click "play" to start the video.
Geo-Targeted Video
Based on the recipients' detected location, the Video component can be configured to automatically display different videos. For example, recipients in the southeast might see a different clip than those in the Pacific Northwest. This can be as broad (regional) or as specific (city or metro area) as desired.
Current Video Feed
DynamicMail team can modify the component to automatically pull the latest video from a specific feed, instead of displaying the same video each time. When users open and then re-open your email, they will see the newest video, ensuring your emails are always relevant and up to date.
Recommendations
- The animated gif duration is limited to seven seconds to optimize the weight, prevent the image from loading slowly, and reduce the risk of losing recipients' interest.
- For iOS 10 and above users, the option for full, live video is automatically enabled. Unlike the animated GIF, the live video does not auto-play by default, to avoid disruption in the recipient's environment. If users on iOS 10 and above should click on the component, the full video will then appear and play in the email itself.
- The weight (which is directly correlated to its size) of the video in the email, and its resultant load time, is directly impacted by its dimensions. We recommend videos to be no wider than 600 pixels to keep weight and load times at a minimum, therefore the limitation can be seen in the component. If you choose a size for the component which is larger, it will simply stretch the asset.
- Video files uploaded to the creator are limited to 100MB to minimize load time for the viewer.
Fallback Behavior
- Some versions of Outlook: Only the first frame of the GIF will be shown. It is recommended to make sure the very first frame of the video is something catchy (this only needs to be on screen for a few milliseconds).
- Everywhere else: A GIF will show 7 seconds of the video.
- On Outlook.com and Outlook 365 the video will play as a GIF 3 times and then it will pause with a play button overlaid on top.

Troubleshooting
The video is not appearing full width even though I set it to fluid.
Is the user viewing the email in Outlook? Outlook does not support the fluid behavior that will stretch the video to full width.
The video is showing up twice in my email.
Have you modified the DynamicMail snippet? This can cause the component to act in unexpected ways.
