Please note:
To unlock this capability, you will need to have added DynamicMail to your Optimove package. If you can’t see this feature in your Optimove instance, contact your CSM to find out more.
The Carousel component generates a dynamic carousel of images, either horizontal or vertical, that is displayed as a ticker or a slider animation.
Optimove offers the option of assigning a separate link to each item, enabling you to display several offers in a single carousel and maximize the real estate of your email.
Settings Configuration
To set up the Carousel Component:
- Go to "Create Component".
- Choose “Carousel”.
- Give your newly-created component a unique name.
- Fill out the rest of the details, including:
- Responsiveness type
Choose "fluid," to stretch the component to fit the width of the screen, or "fixed" to maintain the specified width of the component in all devices. When choosing “fluid,” there is no carousel or fallback shown in Outlook desktop on PC, because Outlook does not know how to adjust emails for fluidity. - Dimensions for the individual items
- Animation direction
- Animation type
- Number of items per frame
Change the number of items presented by removing unwanted frames, do so by scrolling to the bottom and clicking "Remove Frame". Add a frame by clicking "Add Frame". - Animation speed

Images can be used once they are uploaded to the File Manager (from your computer or a URL). Please note that images must have the same dimensions. - Image click-through URLs (optional)

Common Use Cases
Use the Carousel to show multiple items, games, bonuses, multiple products or show off several versions of a product.

Custom Development
The following use cases can be supported with the help of Custom Development:
Content Feed
If you have content in a feed (such as a JSON or RSS feed), the DynamicMail team can populate the Carousel with images and links from the feed. The frequency of new content would be predetermined and would be reflected in the Carousel upon email open.
Content Personalization
The content can be personalized for each recipient based on any data elements provided to the DynamicMail team. You may use our personalization algorithms to deliver the best content for each recipient based on prior click behavior.
Recommendations/Limitations
- We recommend using up to 12 items across three frames, with a minimum cycle of 15 seconds, to ensure readers have time to view and process the content.
- If you have an adaptive template, we recommend making two sliders side by side that will break into two lines when the device size hits your mobile breakpoint.
Fallback Behavior
The fallback option, when chosen, will be an animated gif version of the Carousel with one click-through link to be designated. The default fallback, if the animated gif is not chosen, is a static version of the Carousel's first frame with the associated links where applicable.
