This article explains how Optimove handles campaigns when the daily batch data update runs later than expected — and how Allowed Delay lets you control how long Optimove will wait before giving up on a delayed campaign.
What is Allowed Delay?
Your batch data is refreshed once a day by the batch data update. Normally, regular campaigns execute at their scheduled time using that day's fresh batch data. But if the batch data update is running late and a campaign's scheduled time arrives before the update has finished, the campaign can't execute yet — there's no fresh data to send it with.
Allowed Delay defines how long Optimove will wait for the batch data update to complete before deciding what to do with that delayed campaign.
How does Allowed Delay work?
When a regular campaign reaches its scheduled time before the batch data update has completed, Optimove holds the campaign rather than skipping it right away. Once the batch data update finishes, Optimove checks whether the campaign is still within its Allowed Delay window:
- If the campaign is still within the window, it executes immediately using the newly updated batch data.
- If the window has already passed, the campaign moves to "Not Run" status.
Example: Your campaign is scheduled for 10:00 and Allowed Delay is set to 30 minutes.
- If the batch data update completes at 10:05, the campaign executes at 10:05.
- If the batch data update completes at 10:45, the campaign has passed its Allowed Delay window and moves to "Not Run".
Setting Your Allowed Delay
Allowed Delay applies to all campaigns on your account — it can't be turned on or off for individual campaigns.
