In this article, we will outline how campaigns are executed when Force Run is enabled.
What is Force Run?
In the event of delays in the Batch Data Update and campaign execution phase starts later than usual, campaigns will remain in 'Not Run' status if their scheduled time has passed.
If you would like to ensure these campaigns run once the Batch Data Update is complete, Optimove can enable a flag which executes campaigns after their scheduled time has already passed, as part of the campaign execution phase.
If the Force Run flag is on, campaigns will be executed as part of the execution phase, regardless of the scheduled time.
How does Force Run work?
You can decide to limit the Force Run by minutes. This means Force Run will only run campaigns if X minutes have passed from the scheduled time the campaigns should have been executed. If more than X minutes have passed – campaigns will remain Not Run.
X refers to the time that campaign execution starts - not the scheduled time of each campaign.
For example, campaign execution starts at 8 AM, with Force Run limited to 120 minutes, all campaigns that were scheduled to be executed before 10 AM (8 AM + 120 minutes) will be executed.
All the rest of the campaigns, that have scheduled time later than 10 AM, will remain in Not Run Status.
Note that force run is relevant to all campaigns and can’t be turned on/off for each campaign separately.

Force Run and Conditional Execution
Without Force Run
If there is a delay in campaign execution or the conditional execution campaign is scheduled for a time that is before the campaign execution phase ends, campaigns will run as long as the scheduled time is at least 45 minutes from the beginning of campaign execution phase.
With Force Run
If there is a delay in campaign execution or the conditional execution campaign is scheduled for a time that is before the campaign execution phase ends, all conditional execution campaigns will be executed.
In order to support this, Optimove will need enough time to receive the relevant API calls for campaign execution. As a result, we will automatically add 15 minutes to the process of receiving the API calls and executing the campaigns.
When the conditional execution campaign starts to process, we will add 15 minutes to either the scheduled time if it hasn’t passed yet or to the time when we start the execution to make sure the campaign will have enough time to execute.
If there is a limitation of Force Run then as long as the execution time (after the addition of 15 minutes) is still in the range, we will execute the campaign. If not, we will fail it.
In any case, we will need at least 45 minutes to execute the campaign.
