With Run Anyway, you can send a specific campaign at its scheduled time regardless of the status of the batch-data process. For example, with Run Anyway, you can send an ad-hoc campaign an hour after the Batch Data Update is and Optimove executed all of the day's campaigns. Just remember that Optimove will execute the campaign using yesterday's data or the most up-to-date data (according to the site's last update).

Priority & Exclusion for Run Anyway Campaigns
When using Run Anyway, Optimove prioritizes campaigns that it sent out first, rather than those with a higher manual or auto priority. So if Optimove sent a low-priority "Run Anyway" campaign to a customer earlier in the day, they would not receive another campaign that day regardless of whether it has a higher priority or not or whether it's a Run Anyway campaign or not, unless these campaigns have "include all" selected. Optimove uses this prioritization method because the Run Anyway target group is always calculated separately, 15 mins before campaign execution, thus making it impossible to compare the priority level of its campaign with any target groups calculated at a different time.
For example, let's assume a customer is eligible for a campaign executed using the Batch-Data process and sent at 8 am. On the same day, there is a Run Anyway campaign scheduled for 11 am. When both campaigns use Exclude, the customer will receive the campaign executed during the Batch-Data Process.
Alternatively, suppose you sent a Run Anyway campaign at 7 am, before the Batch-Data Process. On the same day, there's a campaign scheduled for 9 am. Clients eligible for both campaigns will receive the Run Anyway campaign, even if its priority is lower. As long they both use Exclude, the customer will not receive the campaign scheduled for 9 am.
Finally, consider a scenario where you have scheduled two Run Anyway campaigns, one for 5 pm and one for 6 pm. Again, the priority of the target groups doesn't matter. The earlier campaign will take the customers who are eligible for both.

- This feature is for specific use cases. You should not apply it to all campaigns.
- By default, campaigns using Run Anyway will start execution 15 minutes ahead of the Send Time.
- It isn't possible to edit Run Anyway campaigns while their status is "Processing," indicating that Optimove has already started executing the campaign.
- It isn't possible to use the "Re-Evaluate Target Group" or "Lead Time" capabilities in campaigns that use Run Anyway.
- It isn't possible to use Run Anyway with campaigns that only include channels that do not have a specified scheduled time (e.g., Facebook, Google, Criteo).
Using Run Anyway With Conditional Execution Campaigns
Run Anyway can be used in Conditional Execution campaigns. Check the Conditional Execution box when setting up the campaign.

By default, the processing for Run Anyway campaigns using Conditional Execution will begin 60 minutes before the execution time. The reason is that Run Anyway campaigns begin processing 15 minutes before execution time, and Optimove begins calculating Conditional Execution campaigns 45 minutes before execution (15 minutes for promotion activation and 30 minutes for campaign execution). If you want more time to activate your promotions, you can configure the promotion activation time to be longer than 15 minutes. Read more about Conditional Execution here.
Example Use Cases
My Batch-Data Process starts at 8 am, but I want to schedule a campaign for 7 am.
If you have some early birds in your client base, you can utilize Run Anyway and send them a campaign before the Batch Data Update. But, since it would execute it before any other campaign, Optimove would send the campaign as if it were the day's top priority. Therefore, if there are eligible customers on that day for both the Run Anyway campaign and other campaigns, consider that the Run Anyway campaign will affect the day's allocation.
There's a game starting at 8 pm, and I want to send an ad-hoc campaign to encourage bets.
There is a widespread marketing tactic of utilizing timeframes before significant events. When using this tactic, you may wish to execute a campaign even if the batch-data process failed or has not finished yet. Using Run Anyway ensures Optimove will send the campaign to your customers. Nevertheless, it would be best if you considered the following:
- Day's Priority & Exclusions - if you choose the "exclude" option for the Run Anyway campaign, any customers locked into previous campaigns will be excluded. Other customers who are available and eligible to receive the campaign will get it as planned.
- Data - Optimove will execute the campaign based on the most recent data available.
Run Anyway FAQs
Does turning Run Anyway on mean that Optimove will run every future campaign this way?
No. Run Anyway is enabled only for a specific campaign and will not affect future campaigns.
Can I set up a recurring campaign to use Run Anyway?
Yes, but bear in mind that Run Anyway campaigns affect the overall priority and exclusion rules. Therefore, Optimove will exclude overlapping customers from a campaign scheduled to run later than the Run Anyway execution time if you choose the "Exclude" option. Or, if you select the "Include" option for the Run Anyway campaign, customers might receive two campaigns on the same day, which is usually not ideal.
I scheduled a Run Anyway campaign to run during the batch-data process time. Will it be executed on time?
When Run Anyway campaigns are scheduled during the batch-data process, these campaigns will be added to the bottom of the added to the campaign execution queue and sent out one after the other.
As a result, this process could result in some of them not being executed on time.

I want to edit a campaign to use Run Anyway, but the batch-data process has already started. Will it be taken into account?
No. Optimove will not process this campaign as a Run Anyway campaign.
Optimove executed a Run Anyway campaign before the batch-data process today. I might have overlapping customers in campaigns scheduled for after the batch-data process. These campaigns have the 'Exclude' option turned on. Will they be excluded from upcoming campaigns?
Yes. Run Anyway campaigns are part of the overall allocation priority and exclusion rules. Hence, if a campaign is scheduled to run after the Run Anyway execution time and has the Exclude option enabled, it will exclude overlapping customers.
The status of my Run Anyway campaign is 'Not Run.' What will happen when Optimove executes it?
If you schedule the campaign before the batch-data process, the campaign status will be 'Not Run' until fifteen minutes before the execution time, when it will become "Processing" and then "Running." If you schedule the campaign after batch-data processing, the status in Mission Control will be "Scheduled." Once the execution time arrives, the status will become "Processing" and then "Running."
Can I edit or delete a Run Anyway campaign?
Yes, if the campaign status is neither "Processing" nor "Running," you can edit or delete it.
What if I scheduled 10 Run Anyway campaigns for the same time?
Your campaigns will be randomly added to the campaign execution queue and sent out one after the other. This process could result in some of them not being executed right on time.
Best Practices
Using Run Anyway can help you to deliver time-sensitive campaigns that need to be executed regardless of the Batch Data Update.
However, to ensure your campaigns are executed without delay, we recommend the following best practices:
- Schedule campaigns before or after the Batch Data Update: If campaigns using Run Anyway are scheduled during the Batch Data Process, these campaigns will be last in line and sent out one after the other.
- Schedule Run Anyway campaigns in intervals: If you’ve created more than one campaign using Run Anyway in a day, schedule them to at least a 15-minute gap in execution time between one another.
- Use less complex Target Groups: A key process in campaign execution is calculating Target Groups to determine which customers are eligible to receive the campaign. When using Run Anyway, we recommend using less complex Target Groups with fewer segmentations to ensure timely campaign execution.
